Mental illness may include a wide range of behavior and emotional problems. Some symptoms that suggest the need for an evaluation include but are not limited to: depression, anxiety, anger, frequent mood changes, relationship problems and decline in work or school performance.
Mental illness is treated by psychiatrists and other mental health professionals. A psychiatrist is a physician who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of mental and emotional disorders and in some cases prescribes medication(s) for treatment can be prescribed. Mental illness not only affects the individual but also has an impact on their families.
