To Seek, To Serve, To Share Christ
The Mission Statement of the First United Methodist Church of Athens touches each aspect of our call to grow as disciples of Jesus, to serve others in the name of Jesus and to witness to others of the new and abundant life that Jesus brings so that they may come to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior.
This Mission Statement is to guide everything that we do. If an activity or event is not fulfilling the goals of our Mission Statement, then there is no reason for us to be expending our time and resources to do it. If an activity or event is fulfilling the goals of our Mission Statement, then we must be willing to pay the price necessary to carry it forward.
