“Train the Trainer Program”
Having spent the better part of my life training retrievers to hunt, field trial and hunt test with some of the finest Professional and Amateur trainers in the field; and having helped
many other local amateurs over the years achieve titles with their dogs along with my own. I decided to formalize a program to assist the starting amateur trainer with his own dog. Belle Shain has produced both National and Master National Retriever Championship Finalists, along with over thirty titled dogs, over the years. Obviously, if someone wishes to have his or her dog trained professionally, I’m happy to recommend a competent professional.
However, I feel that an amateur can do the job very effectively for a Hunt Test or finished hunting dog, with the guidance we offer. From the purchase of a puppy or started dog through AKC Master Hunt and Qualifying level is what we feel we can accomplish with
someone willing to work to develop his or her dog.
A good professional will move your dog as fast as he can to minimize your cost and deliver a fully trained product. You can, by training your own dog, develop a relationship, knowledge and pride of accomplishment that can never be replaced, at a cost much less
than a good professional must charge. While today there are many good books, DVD’s, and tapes available, they can’t tell you the most important part. How to “read your dog” and decide when to stay at a particular part of training and when to move on to the next step. We can help you determine if you are truly finished with a particular step or the little things that make your job much easier. Believe me, it’s not that difficult, but you have to be able to make the commitment, to achieve your goal. When you’re done you can look back with pride at what you’ve accomplished.
You can work to you and your dogs schedule here at Belle Shain and other training areas as needed. We have the equipment and expertise to help on site. We also are a Tri-Tronics collar dealer and can obtain the best prices and recommend what you really need in the way of equipment to make your training easier.
The program is limited to eight people from puppy through finished hunting or AKC Senior level dogs. This is to insure individual attention to your dogs. Please feel free
