All of the plans I have for this office will require hard work, but, hard work is what I have been taught all of my life.
When I was in elementary school, I had a reading problem that made school difficult. One night, my grandmother saw that I was struggling with a reading assignment. She pulled me aside and told me, Whatever you do, always remember: Nothing beats hard work. With that attitude, I overcame my reading problem and went on to graduate from law school. There were other times in my life that my grandmother repeated the philosophy, Nothing beats hard work. She said it when I was playing sports, when I was in college and law school, and during my career when I was facing a tough trial. That has been my attitude towards anything I have ever undertaken to do, both personally and professionally, nothing beats hard work. That is why I chose this as my campaign slogan.
It will take hard work to improve our legal system so that it offers better protection for our community, swifter justice for crime victims, and more efficiency for law enforcement. But, again, nothing beats hard work.
