Air conditioner, heating system or heat pump needs to be replaced, repaired or evaluated.
I need an estimate on installing a new heating and air system, heat pump or air conditioner.
When it comes to replacing or repairing your existing heating unit or heat pump, we share your concern. Not only is a broken or malfunctioning furnace or heat pump costly due to higher energy usage, there are considerable safety concerns. Is my furnace or heat pump likely to break down when it is needed the most, is my heat pump or heater going to create a hazard while I'm asleep and completely unaware or does my furnace have an almost rusted through place on my heating exchanger or chamber and will cause carbon monoxide to overcome my family?
Frequently asked questions:
When should I get my central heating unit or heat pump inspected?
How long will my central heating system or heat pump last under normal conditions?
How often should I change my filter in my heat pump or furnace?
How often should I have my gas furnace or electric heat pump serviced?
Here are some short answers:
Heating systems consisting of either, gas packs, heat pump or electric furnaces should be inspected at least once a year.
The longevity of your furnace is 8.5 to 17 years (even though the chamber may have a longer warranty), there are several other major components that will conk out before the chamber does. Start considering replacement (even due to efficiency) during the 8 to 12 years.
Gas packs - 8 to 12 years - the average warranty of the heating chamber is 10 years and there is a reason for this - that is how long the company feels it will safely last! So count on replacement during this period. As in the case of the furnace, there are several other major components that will bite the dust around the same time.
Heat pumps - The quality of heat pumps have increased dramatically over the past few years in the Birmingham area - they will heat much better and have higher heating vent temperatures as opposed to those made even 7 to 10 years ago.
The new style of refrigerant R410-a or (Puron) is changing along with higher efficiencies of your gas pack, heat pump or piggy back heat pump (dual fuel heat pump). The reliability of some of the parts(compressor) is expected to last longer , but much depends on the quality of the installation - namely the installer. The other parts are basically expected to last 7 to 10 years before major problems.
Comfort and Efficiency is important!
Your heating and cooling system has the ability to keep you more comfortable than any thing else in your home. If the heating and cooling system is too large - it will not remove enough humidity in air conditioning mode or if too large in the heating setting - you will cause the system to cycle on and off too quickly and will cause your heating and air system to created hot and cold spots.
If your heating and cooling system is too small, it will not perform either of these jobs of cooling and heating well - the least bit of extreme weather will cause you to be too hot or too cold.
Allow Alabama Cooling and Heating to dispatch our furnace, heat pump and air conditioning professionals to hel p you in determining the quality, size and efficiency of your system or just to repair so that you can feel comfortable again.
