The Lee County Literacy Coalition (LCLC) is a volunteer, non-profit, United Way agency dedicated to providing free, one-on-one tutoring to Lee County, Alabama citizens. For more information, call (334) 705-0001 or email us at litcoalition@bellsouth.com."
Our services include:
One-on-One Tutoring
The LCLC's primary mission is to provide learners with volunteer tutors. We provide tutoring in reading, math, writing, basic skills, and GED and Graduation Exam preparation. Anyone in need of our services may call our office to set up a meeting. Tutors should also call for a meeting to discuss volunteering.
Math Class
The LCLC has a regularly-scheduled group math tutoring session on Wednesday afternoons from 3:30 to 5:30 pm. Two to three tutors meet with a group of students for math tutoring. The instruction is still very personal - tutors help students work at their own pace to get the math skills they need. Learners may join the class at any time.
Outreach
We are always available to visit civic clubs, community groups, churches, businesses, or other organizations to speak about the LCLC mission and literacy in Lee County.
After School Programs
The LCLC helps support two after-school tutoring programs in Auburn and Opelika. These programs are held in local churches, but are open to the community.
Learning Software
We have learning software available to LCLC learners. This Software has courses in basic reading, math, and many other vital skills. It can be used to prepare for the GED and Graduation Exams.
