Apcal provide innovative solutions to application problems, in particular those relating to granule application, their calibration and risk to the environment. Stewardship is the key.
Apcal is wholly independent and can therefore evaluate any new client need in an unbiased fashion, having a wealth of technical knowledge and a network of associated expertise in the area of application technology. Around this understanding Apcal will identify, design and build the most cost effective solution, for the particular need. Providing a consultancy in spray and granule, calibration and construction. Able to produce micro-granule metering devices, for use in agriculture and elsewhere.
Effective stewardship of hazardous chemicals is of the utmost importance to farmers, who risk the health of themselves and others, their crops and livestock; to pesticide manufacturers, who risk a registration review if users misapply their products; and to the wider community, from potential environmental contamination of food, water, soil and wildlife.
Apcal has developed easy to operate metering cartridges (cassettes) that fit into existing Horstine Farmery Microband machinery. The cartridges allow users to choose the best pesticide for the application and optimise its usage, rather than being tied to one product because of difficulty in setting and calibrating existing equipment.
Product users are able to access a free on-line output calibration aid. This aid replaces complex formulae and look up tables with a simple to use output calibration tool; simply fill in a few details and print out your own output table. In this way farmers can confidently use only the correct amount necessary for the application in question.
Farmers in the UK have welcomed the new cartridges, particularly as they produce predictable, reliable outputs, do not require difficult or messy installation, and have a long life. Three pesticide manufacturers now recommend the use of Apcal cartridges for optimal crop management using Microband machinery, with others set to follow suit in USA and beyond.
