G.T. Key Companies, Inc. was established as an electrical company in 1933 by Griffin T. Key II on property that was once the first electrical substation in Montgomery, Alabama. The building still stands today. During the 1940s the company graduated from small residential jobs to working for the Rural Electrification Administration on Alabama lines, as well as designing distribution systems for several Alabama cities. On his passing, the business was handed down to his son, Griffin T. Key III who continued the tradition of commercial and industrial electrical contracting.
Since incception, the business has expanded to include an industrial and commercial electrical contracting division, an industrial and commercial lighting division, and a fully integrated converged networks division. In 2002 Griffin Key passed away and left his work and legacy in the hands of his daughter, Debbie Petranka. While we maintain our place on the cutting edge of technology, we remain grounded in the rich history and tradition of the linemen who were integral to the development of our company. Our goal is to honor that tradition with our service, quality, and integrity of workmanship.
G.T. Key Company Inc. is dedicated to providing our customers with professional service in the electrical, lighting, and communications industry. We believe in technology—that when incorporated into our daily lives it can improve our productivity and our overall quality of life. We believe that it is our responsibility to first educate ourselves so that we may better educate and equip our customers to use technology. We are not a one size fits all company—we believe in providing the best solution to fit your company’s needs. Foremost, we believe in service, quality and integrity and we will strive above all things to make sure that our workmanship reflects those beliefs..
