The Harris Firm was founded by Steven A. Harris, Attorney at Law, to provide legal services primarily in the areas of Personal Injury, Products Liability, Toxic Exposure, and other cases where individuals are seriously injured and seek justice. Personal Injury cases are taken on a contingency fee basis whereby we handle the case at no costs to you initially, and are only paid when you receive a settlement or award. These cases can include automobile accidents, premises liability, and almost any other injury suffered as a result of another person’s or entity’s negligence and we are usually paid a certain percentage of the settlement or award that you receive depending on the type and complexity of the case that you have. Product Liability cases can include injury suffered due to a defective drug or some other type of defective product such as a vehicle that has a defective part or design. Similar to the personal injury cases, these are taken on a contingency fee basis too. Some examples of toxic exposure cases would be such things as toxic mold, mesothelioma, benzene, lead paint exposure and even radiation exposure claims. We also represent individuals that have been injured as a result of another’s negligence or malpractice such as dram shop claims, medical malpractice, dental malpractice, mortuary malpractice, nursing home negligence, and termite litigation.
We also provide certain services at lower costs in order to make them more affordable for you. These services are usually in the areas of uncontested divorces, wills/estate planning, preparing important legal documents for you or your family, and filing chapter 7 bankruptcy. We are currently offering flat fees for most of these type of services listed below:
Uncontested Divorces: $400 if no minor children, and $450 if minor children are involved. There are a number of conditions to this service (such as it only includes drawing up the agreement between the spouses and all other necessary paperwork to file with the court and making two (2) substantive changes due to negotiations or other issues that arise during divorces between the spouses). Chapter 7 Bankruptcy: We are currently charging a flat fee of $690 to file your Chapter 7 bankruptcy case. You will still have other charges such as a filing fee of $299, credit counseling of around $35, and there might be certain other costs such as paying for credit reports, etc. For more information you can give us a call at (205) 201-1789.
Wills/Estate Planning: We are currently charging $100 for simple wills, and $200 if you wish to sign the will and have it notarized in my office. A simple will is, with many different variations, basically one where there are no major assets with complicated issues, no minor children, and you wish to leave everything to one or several specific loved ones. It can involve several specific requests, but it does not include drawing up any other such legal documents to accompany the will. Other legal documents can be charged $100 flat fee (as long as there are no complicated legal issues) such as Advanced Health Care Directives, and Durable Power of Attorney. Legal Documents: We sometimes charge flat fees for certain contracts or agreements, certain corporate documents that must be filed with the county or State, help with filing out and filing certain documents, and other such type of legal advice or review work.
