Originally established in Birmingham (in 1974), the clinic was relocated to the Alabama Gulf Coast in 2000. And, after only one year of operation in its new home, Dr. McCollough's institution was selected by the Gulf Coast Area Chamber of Commerce as its Business of the Year.
Recognized as one of the world's leading experts in nasal and facial plastic surgery, Dr. McCollough is board-certified by two boards. Each of which certify surgeons for cosmetic and reconstructive procedures within the face, head and neck. He is a Fellow of the prestigious American College of Surgeons and was instrumental in establishing the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. For his efforts, he was elected by his fellow surgeons as the Board's first president.
Dr. McCollough was also elected to the office of president of the Academy and Foundation that represents the specialty of facial plastic surgery. Furthermore, the multi-specialty American Association of Cosmetic Surgery elected Dr. McCollough as its president. And, the American Board of Cosmetic Surgeons bestowed an "honorary degree" upon him.

He previously served on the Alabama Commission on Aging; and for his contributions to positively affect the physical, psychological, economic, and social aspects of aging was inducted into the Senior Citizens Hall of Fame. In 2007, he was elected president of the International Council of Integrative Medicine (soon to be renamed The International Counsel of Mind/Body Medicine) and continues to serve on the organization's board of directors.
Dr. McCollough is a member of the national faculty of The United States Sports Academy, where he provides counsel for Human Enhancement and Rejuvenology™. In 2006 he received the USSA's Distinguished Service Award.
A full time facial plastic surgeon, decorated author and teacher, Dr. McCollough has also shared his vision for comprehensive life enhancement with colleagues around the world. Although Dr. McCollough only performs cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the face, neck, eyes, ears, and nose, his clinic offers comprehensive plastic surgery. Breast and body procedures (including the latest techniques in liposuction, breast augmentation, and abdominoplasty) are performed by surgeons, who have successfully completed a course of specialty training in these procedures.
It is possible to have facial, body, breast and/or laser procedures performed at the same time.
As a matter of convenience, to initiate cost-saving measures, and to reduce recovery times, it is possible to have facial, body, breast and/or laser procedures performed at the same time. Patients can recover on site in one of the private, yet spacious, golf and lake front villas at the McCollough Institute*. Private duty caregivers are available to assist with post-operative care immediately following surgery . and/or for as many days and nights as the patient desires.
