How Our Elders Lead Us ...
An idea can start with anyone. The session welcomes creative, innovative thinking and ideas. We invite ideas and initiatives. If you have an idea, please share it!
Ideas move to committees. The session's first step is to offer new ideas to the appropriate session committee for study.
Committees develop ideas. Ideas are like embryos. They develop or die. A valuable, potentially useful idea deserves development, nurture and help to grow. The Elders and Pastor work together to help the session committees develop ideas.
Committees take developed ideas to the session as proposed ministries. When an idea is ready, it comes to the session as a recommendation. Committees recommend new ministries, improvements to existing ministries and our campus, and more routine things like the use of our facilities by outside groups. This happens at almost every session meeting.
The session decides whether ideas will become a ministry of the church, a part of the church's mission. For a new ministry, event or other new idea to become part of the church's mission, the session must approve it. This is what we mean when we say, "The session administers the ministry of the church through its committees and organizations." Everything we do at First Presbyterian is carefully considered by the session before it becomes part of our ministry and mission.
Committees evaluate and improve ministry programs using ideas from many sources. Session Committees constantly evaluate and improve our ministries with new ideas. We hope you will give us your input. It is very important for our Elders to know your thoughts and concerns.
Please join our session as we become more and more like Jesus.
Keep doing the little things well.
Church Office Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm
When you see people who are sad, lonely, or grief-stricken, don't just tell them you care -- show them you care. Ask how they are, listen to what they have to say, share the love of Jesus. And if their need is great, encourage them to talk to a Stephen Minister as a way to receive the transforming love and care of Jesus. Show them you care and you can make a real difference in their life.
Your Stephen Minister Team --Beth Eachor, Burt Hinson, Caron Majors, Carol May, Lacie Maynard, Phyllis Montgomery, Mary Hough, Bill Seybert, and Bill and Karen Jorgensen.
Join us for fresh starts and faithful living in Jesus' love!
